About The Jewel Ornament of Liberation
This is a meditation manual composed by the Enlightened Tibetan Master, Je Gampopa (1079–1153)
. It is the complete foundation for Buddhist study and practice covering the initial entry into the path and continuing through the achievement of Buddhahood.

Rinpoche received the transmission of this essential text from Khunu Lama Rinpoche, who once said, “If you know the Jewel Ornament, then you can say you know the Buddhadharma.”

GAMPOPA GURU YOGA

ALL SOURCES OF BLESSING

Refuge and Bodhichitta

In co-emergent bliss and emptiness, the dharmakaya,
I take refuge until I attain awakening.

Although, all beings are primordially buddhas by nature,
they are deluded.
To realize the essence, I give rise to bodhichitta.
                                                                    recite three times

Visualization

You are the perfection of purity and attainment, the dharmakaya
Vajradhara;
you are great bliss, the sambhogakaya, shining forth with the major
and minor marks;
you are all-pervading compassion, the nirmanakaya, taming beings
according to their needs;
you are the world-renowned master of the Kadampa and
Mahamudra lineage.

Mantra Recitation

OM AH NAMO GURU JAMBUDVIPA KIRTI MAHA MUDRA
SIDDHI PHALA HUNG

                                                                   recite many times

Blessing Supplication

You were Supuspachandra and Padmottara,
in the presence of Shakyamuni you were Chandraprabhakumara,
here in this land of snow mountains you are know as the physician
monk:
I supplicate you who were prophesied by the Victor.
                                                                 recite three times or more

Empowerment and Dissolution

By the blessing power of this one-pointed supplication,
light rays emanate from the four places of the guru and dissolve into mine,
the four empowerments are excellently obtained, and the guru
dissolves into me.
My mind is the guru in a fresh, natural state.
rest in the absolute meaning

Dedication

Within the purity of the three spheres,
I dedicate all the accumulations of virtues in samsara and nirvana
for all beings to achieve the body that posses the twofold purity.
Thus, may the equal taste be experienced in the great equanimity of
dharmata.

Found in “The Treasury of All Blessing Practice of purifying Obscurations and Revealing the Innate Nature”
This guru yoga All Sources of Blessing arose from the spontaneous expression
of unshakable devotion out of the intention to benefit beings like myself.

TEACHING / PUBLIC TALK GIVEN BY KHENPO CHOEPEL – JUNE 2022

Please Welcome Khenpo to Madison on his first visit!

Khenpo Choephel gave an in-person public talk, “How to Liberate Our Own and Other’s Suffering, through the Wisdom of Buddha’s Teachings.” We were so grateful for his visit and teachings! Video of his teachings – coming soon.

Brief bio of Khenpo Choephel Rinpoche:

Rinpoche is originally from Drigung Thil Monastery, the head-monastery of the Drikung Kagyu lineage. He was ordained as a monk by Vajradhara Pachung Rinpoche at a young age. While at Drikung Thil, he received many teachings and instructions – first from Pachung Rinpoche and, later from Pachung Rinpoche’s successor Gelong Rinpoche – Vajradhara Tenzin Nyima.

Rinpoche is also a master in the ritual-traditions of Drikung Thil Monastery, and received debate and philosophy training at Drepung Monastery in Tibet. Before he left Drikung Thil, Rinpoche served as the chant-master of the monastery.

In 2007, he was appointed “Khenpo” by Drikung Thil Monastery. Rinpoche has lived in the United States for several years and has served as one of the three spiritual directors at Tibetan Meditation Center in Frederick, Maryland before going to the Drinkung center in Pittsburgh in November 2011. Khenpo Choephel is currently giving teachings and leading retreats on the Fivefold Path of Mahamudra , which he considers to be he most profound practice and essence of Buddha Dharma.

A MESSAGE FROM KHENCHEN
MAY 21, 2021

“I have given you many teachings over these past few months.  Now, I want you to take some time to study, contemplate and put the teachings into practice. If I just keep giving teachings, these precious teachings will not be valued. So before I teach again, I want you to practice! Then we will see!”  ~Khenchen Rinpoche

So please, everyone, continue to study, practice and meditate!

Khenchen Rinpoche’s teachings from July and August 2021 can be found here.

DR. LYE TEACHING IN-PERSON IN MADISON – JULY 13, 2022

Dr. Lye gave in-person teachings in Madison on Mindfulness of Breathing Meditation. Link to teaching – coming soon!

Dr. Lye gave teachings on the “Mindfulness of Breathing Sutra” in the context of H.H. Drikung Kyabgön Chetsang Rinpoché’s “Shravasti Meditation”. His Holiness’s integrated approach to meditation uses this fundamental sutra as a main source while illuminating and supplementing it with teaching and techniques from the Mahamudra, Dzogchen, and Zen traditions. This program combines practical application with theoretical understanding.

About Dr. Lye – Dorje Lopon

In 2013, soon after Dr. Lye decided to leave the secular, Western academic field of religious studies, His Holiness Drikung Kyabgön Chetsang Rinpoché (one of the two Heads of the Drikung Kagyu lineage) appointed Dr. Lye as a dorjé lopön (lit. “vajra-master”) of the Drikung Kagyü lineage. Dr. Lye was then formally enthroned and charged with the responsibility of transmitting the teachings and practices of the Drikung Kagyu lineage that he has himself received and practiced well. Soon after the enthronement, Dr. Lye was sent by His Holiness to visit and teach at Drikung centers in South America. Since then, Dr. Lye has been dividing his time between serving as His Holiness’s special assistant in various projects in Asia and the Americas, and supporting the local Buddhist community at Urban Dharma North Carolina.
